Description
Civics Fundamentals is a free online citizenship education program created to strengthen understanding of American government, history, and civic responsibility. Developed in partnership with izzit.org, the program serves students, educators, adult learners, and individuals preparing for the U.S. citizenship test.
The course features 128 short video lessons hosted by Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg. Each lesson presents a question from the U.S. citizenship test, provides the correct answer, and explains the history and civic principles behind it. This approach helps learners move beyond memorization and develop a meaningful understanding of how the United States government works.
Civics Fundamentals also includes a pre-test, section assessments, and a comprehensive final exam. Learners can study at their own pace, revisit lessons, test their knowledge, and strengthen their understanding of important topics such as the Constitution, American democracy, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, U.S. history, and integrated civics.
For educators, the program provides videos, lesson support, classroom activities, assessments, and tools for tracking student progress. It can be used as a complete civics course, a supplemental classroom resource, or an engaging way to prepare students for civics-related testing.
